Aventura is a bachata music group from The Bronx, New York, United States. A guest appearance by Puerto Rico-based El Prodigio culminates in the dazzling merengues Pueblo A Pueblo and Me Voy. There is also plenty of sampling, crating and mixing. On the album Love & Hate (2003) the swinging bachata is sometimes mixed with elements from reggae and merengue. It served as the group's second single from their third studio album Love & Hate.1 It peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart. The band is far from done with experimenting. Aventura seduced the listener in a subtle and refreshing way with her romantic listening songs, sung in Spanglish (much Spanish, some English). But instead of assertive R&B or rap, we heard the sweet-voiced, light-toned voices of singers Romeo and Henry and the refined guitar and percussion playing of Lenny, Max and guest musicians. ![]() First of all, their appearance stood out: they were dressed 'cool' and 'casual' on … the CD booklets of their albums Generation Next (1999) and We Broke The Rules (2002). Four youngsters from the Bronx, New York, embarked on the adventure: as the band Aventura, they wiped the dusty image of the bachata and polished it up to a style that suited a modern, young audience. Bachata is a traditional Dominican genre in which melancholic vocals are supported by simple guitar accompaniment.
